- Handcrafted woodwork designed for use in storage and display. Boxes, cabinets, display cases and shadowboxes to provide safe environments for collectibles and to help keep special items close at hand. Perfect for small places needing to combine style & storage. Everything listed on my site is completely handmade by me in my shop from scratch. I use mostly recycled & reclaimed wood for my creations and focus on domestic woods and avoid any endangered exotic woods. Please contact me via email (jmcraftworks@gmail.com) for a custom order and I’d be happy to help with an original design for a special one-of-a-kind handcrafted item, a custom ring box, coin display case & mount, or a keepsake box.

And in this treasury: Don't box me in.
A handmade jewelry cabinet entirely constructed of reclaimed wood and painted with hand-mixed antique milk paint. Both the oak and maple are from cut-offs from a local wood shop and the fabric is from a remnant from the Boise Reuse Market. This is our design and was fabricated completely by us from scratch in our shop.
The fabric inserts are wrapped around padding and protect both the top compartment and the drawer to cushion anything placed inside. Both inserts and the wooden dividers in the drawer are removable. The drawer can be taken out of the cabinet for easy access. The hardwood is hand sanded and finished inside & out with a clear ecofriendly water based polyurethane. A special one of a kind jewelry cabinet.
This box, like all our work, is strongly influenced by the American Shakers. Shaker designs are characterized by austerity and simplicity and we try to use those values in our pieces. This particular piece is fashioned after a Shaker Blanket Chest which had a lidded top compartment with a drawer underneath.
